Tweets in 10 (Part 2) – Gathering the RIGHT Followers

Gathering followers is fun… but gathering the right followers (and finding the right people to follow) is even better!

Don’t get caught up in the myth that you need to follow a lot of people. Some Twitter users collect followers like they’re going out of style… but effective Twitter users know that what you really want is a carefully cultivated list of the right people. When you’re listening to and speaking to a well-chosen group of people, your tweets will be easier to write, more compelling to your select audience, and you’ll have an easier time building relationships and marketing yourself.

To make that selection even more successful, I recommend Twitter directories. Twitter directories are just what the names imply: Directories of Twitter users sorted in various ways so you can find people with similar interests.

Sign up for some or all of these directories, fill in your information, and here’s what will happen:

  1. People will find you and follow you because you are closely aligned to the kind of people they want to follow.
  2. You’ll easily find many, many people to follow based on the sorting mechanisms of those directories.
